IT Support Office is responsible for deploying and maintaining the necessary technology infrastructure that is required by MECIT to conduct its operations in an efficient and secure manner. In particular, unit is committed to provide a reliable infrastructure, dependable computing environment and necessary support services to the staff, faculty and students at MECIT.
The office provides reliable, secure and dependable information technology services to the college community and to provides essential support to them in order to utilise these services effectively and responsibly inorder to achieve MECIT’s mission.
Unit provides the following services:
- Internet Access- Internet access is enabled through a 32Mbps fiber optic leased line from KOM, which provides download speeds of about 2 Mbps/user on an average.
- Email and SMS-All staff and students are provided with email accounts with spam filtering services. Web access is enabled and hence mails can be accessed from outside the campus as well. SMS services are also used as relevant.
- Print Services- All staff and students have access to print services, with ‘follow me’ printing enabled in Learning Resources Lab. Additionally all students are credited with 200 pages at the beginning of each semester with top up options on payment.
- Wi-Fi Access- Enables students, guests and staff to use their laptops and smart phones in college.
- File Storage- Appropriate file storage space for departments, students and staff to store their files.
- IP Telephones- IP Telephones with voice message and voice mail options are provided.
- Internet in hostels- Wi-Fi Internet access in hostels is provided via VPN connected to the college network.
- I.T Helpdesk Services which is available, Saturday to Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m..
