Main Services of the Student Success Centre
Orientation Program:
A comprehensive orientation program is designed and coordinated by the Student Success Centre to facilitate the new students to make a smooth transition to studying in MECIT. During the orientation program students are familiarized with the various departments in the college, the campus, the staff and faculty, the policies and regulations, College Information System (CIS) etc. Along with important flyers the students also receive their log-in Ids and passwords in the orientation pack.
The orientation program is also designed to help students come out of their shells, interact with peers and members of the college community, participate in activities and also win prizes.
Lingo Gym:
Lingo Gym provides an avenue for students to learn English through non-conventional methods in an informal setting. Students practice English through word games, role play, movies etc.
Registration: Though mostly students from the Foundation Program join the Lingo Gym, it is open to semester students as well. We advise that student register in the Lingo Gym at the beginning of the semester to enjoy the gamut of sessions. We also require students to meet any of the members of the Student Success Centre in person to register and decide on the timings to attend the sessions.
Volunteers: Students proficient in the language are encouraged to be volunteers to participate in conducting the sessions for the Lingo Gym

Regular Intimation of Important Matters:
Periodically information is communicated to students through ‘I have news for you’ slides and other announcements through digital displays and college email.
Tutorials: Student Success Centre caters to the needs of students preparing to write Supplementary Exam. Around the 10th week of the semester it announces the availability of the faculty members to revise the modules with these students. Students should not expect the teachers to teach the module all over again. They are expected to seek clarifications for parts of the units which they find tough to understand. Students are also advised to attempt past question papers and discuss the answers with the teachers.
Need based tutorials are also arranged for students who approach the Student Success Centre for the same.
Clarification of Academic Rules and Regulations: The Student Success Centre holds interactive sessions for students to clarify and reinforce college rules and regulations. With the same objective the Student Success Centre also conducts a quiz based on student handbook- The Mecitian Quiz. Students are informed about the date of the quiz at least a week in advance. To participate in the quiz students have to register their teams with the Student Success centre.
Student Grievance Redress: The Student Success Centre serves as a bridge connecting students, parents, faculty and staff members. The members of the centre with their knack for problem-solving can be approached by any student who wants to communicate concerns or feedback on any administrative or academic area. The centre tries to solve the issues which are under its purview; if not the student is guided through the grievance redress procedure. At times if the student is not comfortable in approaching the person concern the centre communicates the particular issue while maintaining the anonymity of the complainer. Response is later communicated to the student in a follow-up meeting.
Student Reps Meeting with the Dean: Towards the mid of every semester the centre facilitates Foundation Class Reps meeting with the dean. Similar meeting is organized with students representing different semesters and specializations. Students are made aware of the importance of their feedback and suggestions. The minutes of the meetings are recorded and communicated separately to each head of the department involved. Students are expected to collect the responses from the centre.
