Exemptions can be sought only by those students who have completed similar modules with at least 75% of the components matching and grades equivalent of 60 per cent and above. No course completion certificate or other certificates of similar nature shall be considered.
Students enrolled for Certificate level exits will not be awarded any exemptions; however up to a maximum of 50% exemptions may be awarded to students who are enrolled at the Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Honours Degree levels. Exemptions will not be awarded to any modules that are set at Level 3.
All applications for exemption shall be reviewed by nominated members of each department and approved by the Exemptions Approval Committee authorised for this purpose. The Committee may recommend for award of exemptions or shall reject the application. In certain cases, the Committee may recommend a suitable test for proficiency and competence and also for additional information to determine the status of exemption.
Exemptions are awarded during the enrolment of the student to the programme. The Degree path arrived at after exemptions are awarded shall stand. There can be no additional exemptions given during the study period.
Exempted modules will be indicated by letter “P” in the transcript. Exemptions will be cancelled and disciplinary action initiated if it is found at any point in time that there is a discrepancy in the information/documents submitted by the students to obtain exemptions.
Exemption Fee
- If a student is awarded exemptions s/he will be required to pay a prescribed fee towards exemption charges for each module that is exempted.
- If a student is required to take a test for the purpose of award of exemption, s/he is charged an additional fee per test apart from the normal exemption charges.
Documents to be submitted for exemptions:
- Copy of the Omani ID card
- Original academic transcript/attested copies indicating the grades secured in the module for which exemption is sought for the purpose of verification
- Detailed official syllabus of the modules against which exemptions is sought.
