Students are required to be punctual and regular to all registered classes. Failure to attend classes without prior approval from concerned authorities for whatever reason shall be considered as part of the percentage missed. Students bear full responsibility for checking their own attendance record. Students may check with the module instructors or check their status on the College Information System (CIS). The Registration department shall issue relevant reports in the case of students’ absenteeism electronically through e-mails and CIS.
Absences due to late registrations during the ADD/DROP period will not count towards absenteeism limits.
Students need to have a minimum of 75 per cent attendance for each module registered for the particular semester. Attendance percentages are calculated on the basis of attendance at lectures, practical, tests and tutorials. Failure to comply with the minimum attendance requirements makes students ineligible for the End Semester Examination.
Students on Sports scholarship will be allowed a further attendance condonation on a case to case basis. They are required to produce documentary evidence from the appropriate Sports Authority.
In the case of approved absences for representing the College/department in different events or other activities that may have prior approvals, a student's instructor or adviser or a competent authority should be involved in granting permission. However this additional attendance condonation is limited to 10% only per Semester.
Students who do not fulfil the attendance requirement will not be allowed to write the End Semester Examination in the respective module and will subsequently be declared as failed. Students are required to re-register for modules in which they have shortage of attendance.
Attendance Monitoring
In the case of modules registered for the particular semester attendance will be monitored and reports indicating absenteeism of the student will be issued electronically through e-mails on a periodic basis. Students are advised to closely monitor their attendance with the concerned module instructors and also regularly check the CIS. Students are advised to bring any discrepancies noted in the marked attendance to the concerned module instructor. Students may bring to the notice of the Registration Department any requests for the attendance report by the parent. Such requests will be taken up and the reports will be made and issued.
Absences are counted from the first day of the semester. In case of illness, absence will not be accounted for those days, for which a medical certificate is produced, up to a maximum of 10 taught hours in the module that the student has remained absent. Medical certificates have to be submitted by the students within a maximum of two days from the date of re-joining the College. Medical certificates that are submitted at the end of the semester for the previous absences will not be accepted.
In case of death in the family, a maximum of 3 days may be exempted, provided the student produces relevant documents. The letter with signature of the Wali / Sheikh to this effect is to be submitted on the date of re-joining the College. Request for extra ordinary leave for reasons not covered should be submitted to the Registration department with necessary documents. Students showing poor attendance will be referred to the LACC Office for counselling.
