The new Learning Resources Block at MECIT is formally functional from March 26, 2010. The block features a modern library offering around 22, 000 titles, a state-of-the-art Computer Laboratory housing nearly 450 SUN Thin Clients, conference halls, discussion rooms, audio-visual unit & separate space for research activities, computer labs, Math referral centre etc.
The Learning Resource Center will be the flagship building of the MECIT campus, having a built-up area of 4,200 sq m. Each aspect of the building has been thoughtfully designed and crafted in line with MECIT‘s commitment of providing an enriching environment for student development and enhancing student experience.
The building has been designed in such a way so as to allow an inflow of plenty of natural light which in turn will facilitate students and motivate them to spend more time in the library. The new set-up in the library will house the most modern and advanced technology like EM tag enabled library circulation which will facilitate easy book issue and return, search kiosks and many other user convenient features.
The library features discussion rooms of varying capacity which can be booked through the College Information System (CIS) and can be accessed using smart cards. These discussion rooms are equipped with projectors and other presentation aids for students to have academic discussions. In addition, it houses an exclusive Multimedia room that will contain audio-visual based medium of information. The highpoint of the library is the Research enclosure which is a space dedicated to student and staff involved in research pursuits.
The Computer laboratories will house contemporary ‘SUN THIN CLIENTS (SUNRAY)’ system which boasts innovative functionalities which will enable students to have card based login, uninterrupted user sessions,
remote access with which a student can continue his session at a remote location (residence, kiosk, shopping malls etc) without losing the previous work carried out in the lab.
In its stride towards perfection, the Learning Resource Center is yet another step forward and will be a landmark for MECIT.

MECIT won the SQU Intercollegiate Womens Basketball tournament. In the finals they faced stiff competition and against the home team SQU, when the going got tough our Girl’s proved their strength and won the hard fought game 32- 24. Hiba Al Naabi as always captained the team and lead from the front by scoring 26 points herself, more than the whole contribution of SQU. Fatma Al Raisi scored 5 points and Wafa Al Sarkhi scored 1 point.
