Welcome to the Department of Postgraduate Studies and Research. The department has been established with an objective of coordinating the postgraduate programmes as well as promoting research activities at MECIT.

The department offers MBA (IT) and MSc (IT) programmes in academic partnership with Coventry University, UK, leading to awards from the University. Each one of the PG programmes can be completed in a years’ time in full –time mode and in two years’ time in part time mode.

Currently the programmes are attended by middle and senior level managers and IT staff from various Ministries and private organisations including Nawras, Oman Mobile, PDO, Halliburton, Bank Muscat, National Bank of Oman, Orix Oman etc.

The department also coordinates the research activities at MECIT. This is an important point in the history of MECIT as it moves from a predominantly teaching institution into becoming a HEI that gives importance to research as well as teaching. As a responsible HEI that is committed to enhancing student experience, MECIT believes that it is essential to ensure that research culture becomes pervasive, sustainable and inclusive for the institution to be continually improving. The research initiatives include the seed money initiative, research mentorship programme, working paper series, assistance to attend conferences, etc. This is apart from the infrastructure and other resource support including dedicated staff research area, access to research documents and journals, etc
