Welcome to the Languages Centre of the Middle East College of Information Technology. The Languages Centre primarily teaches students who need to acquire the skills necessary for pursuing undergraduate programmes. It also serves those students who are already enrolled in Bachelor Degree or Diploma programmes offered by the Middle East College of Information Technology (MECIT). All programmes are designed to meet practical and specific communicative needs.

The Foundation Programme extends over a period of one year comprising two semesters. The programme is designed to help students achieve the levels of proficiency expected by Oman Academic Standards for General Foundation Programmes.

Objectives:

The aim of the Foundation Programme (FP) is to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to perform competently in their academic programmes. On completion of the FP, students attain the required degree of proficiency in four learning areas; English language, Mathematics, Computing and Study Skills.

The primary objective of the English language component is to enable students to acquire skills that are needed in their academic and ensuing professional environment. On completion of the English courses, students should have acquired the receptive as well as productive skills necessary to perform competently in a non-mother-tongue setting.
